Semliki National Park Uganda
SEMLIKI NATIONAL PARK.
Semliki National Park is 220kms2 in size. The park is located in the extreme western region of Uganda and its headquarters are at Ntandi about 52 kms on Fort Portal Bundibugyo road. Travelling from Fort Portal along a rough meandering road to the Park provides a spectacular view of the Rwenzori Mountains, meandering Semliki River and fuming Sempaya hot springs

Tourist activities
• Game viewing:
On your way to the park, you will have a game drive enroute, where you may encounter Elephants, Buffaloes, Leopards, Bush babies. And plenty of other game.53 mammal species have been recorded in Semliki and on the listed species 11 occur no where else in Uganda including the pygmies antelope, six types of bats and two types of flying squillel.
Scenery Viewing
The Bundibugyo road offers scenic views of the meandering Semuliki River, fuming Hot springs and the tropical rain forest extending up to Ituri forest in DRC.
Hot Springs
There are two Hot springs with two meters jet of hot water (130oC) and a pool (12 m diameter) of oozing boiling water (106oC). You can boil food especially eggs in the natural boiler within ten minutes and enjoy it.
Forest Walk
Grey checked mangabey and black and white colobus are common sight at the trail to the hot springs that leads through a patch of rain forest .The Mungilo Waterfall is an excellent sight for white crested hornbill and red-dwarfed hornbill.
Bird Watching
Semliki has almost 400 bird species. Highly recommended is the 15km foot trail that runs north from the village of Kirumia on the main Bundibujo road to the banks of Semliki River.

There is a camp site inside the Park at Bumaga, with a canteen stocked with both African and European food and beverages but preparation of meals is on order.
